October 4th – Josh Martin and Jenee Fleenor

Jenee Fleenor and Josh Martin are integral members of the acoustic supergroup, Wood Box Heroes. The band is currently touring and recently released their debut album, 444. Their collaborative efforts have already seen success, with Wood Box Heroes achieving multiple #1 songs on the Bluegrass Today weekly airplay charts, including Martin’s “Cross the Line,” which was the most played song on Bluegrass radio in 2024.

Jenee Fleenor is a multifaceted musical artist from Springdale, Arkansas. A five-time reigning CMA Musician of the Year (2019-2024), she made history as the first woman ever nominated for the award. Classically trained and road-seasoned from a young age, Fleenor moved to Nashville in 2001, driven by her dream of becoming a fiddle player on recordings.

She is now one of the most sought-after session players in Nashville, appearing on many hit songs. Fleenor has graced stages with top touring artists such as Terri Clark, Jimmy Fortune, Jamey Johnson, Martina McBride, Blake Shelton, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Don Williams, and most recently, George Strait. Her songwriting credits include cuts by Miranda Lambert, Reba, Blake Shelton, and Gretchen Wilson. She currently has a song she co-penned with Miranda Lambert and Jesse Frasure featured in the new Twisters movie and is signed to Warner Chappell.

In 2019, Fleenor made her Grand Ole Opry debut as an artist, following the release of her song “Fiddle and Steel.” This track showcases her stunning vocal performance and heartfelt nostalgia for her childhood and the country music she grew up on.

Josh Martin is an accomplished singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer hailing from the coalfields of Eastern Kentucky. His musical style uniquely integrates traditional bluegrass sounds with elements from rock, country, and pop genres.

Martin’s independently released 2019 album, Nothing Holding Me, is noted for its balance of accessible sound and lyrical credibility, featuring honest songwriting and exceptional musicianship. His more recent releases, including “Cold Again” (2020), “Strange Times” (2020), and “The Burden of the Mountains” (2022), demonstrate a rare and untamed energy in contemporary popular music.

Moving to Nashville in 2013, Martin’s singing, songwriting, and guitar skills quickly earned him recognition within the legendary Music Row songwriting community. In 2016, he signed his first publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music. Although Sony’s Treehouse Records released two pop-country tunes, “How’d You Know” and “Just My Luck,” providing an industry footprint, Martin eventually parted ways with Sony to embrace the freedom of creating and showcasing his authentic American music style. As a guitarist, he has collaborated on numerous records with Nashville’s elite musicians, including Willie Nelson’s Grammy-nominated 2023 release, Bluegrass. His artistry draws influences from Guy Clark and Darrell Scott in his lyrics, Tony Rice in his guitar licks, and a touch of old-time spirituality in his vibrantly smooth baritone voice.
