Blending ancient folk traditions rooted in Appalachia and French Louisiana with classic country music and original songs born from these styles\, the Revival are true keepers of the old flame\, finding fresh ways to make it burn brighter and hotter than ever. \nFormed in the early 2010s by Joel Savoy\, Jesse Legé\, and members of the Foghorn Stringband\, the current incarnation of this roots-music supergroup welcomes Savoy’s hometown friend and longtime collaborator Linzay Young. Young brings a Prairie Cajun twin-fiddle edge to the sound\, along with versatile vocals that range from soulful Cajun laments to country-style crooning. \nAt the heart of the band is dancehall veteran Jesse Legé\, a charismatic ambassador of Cajun music whose masterful accordion playing and powerful singing have made him one of the most sought-after artists in the tradition. Born near Gueydan\, Louisiana\, in Vermilion Parish—the “Duck Capital of the World”—Legé spoke Cajun French as his first language and has been making music for nearly six decades. An elder statesman of the genre\, he brings both deep authenticity and youthful exuberance to every performance. \nJoel Savoy and Linzay Young have been making music together since their early teens. Steeped in Cajun culture and hailing from Eunice\, Louisiana\, this dynamic duo has traveled the world sharing their heritage through music\, food\, and storytelling. DESCRIPTION:March 7th – Brittany Haas & Nic Gareiss — Fiddle Fire Meets Per­cussive Dance \nBrittany Haas is widely regarded as one of the most influential fiddlers of her generation. Raised in Northern California and steeped in string camps from an early age\, she shaped her signature sound under the mentorship of Bruce Molsky and Darol Anger. By fourteen she was touring with Anger’s Republic of Strings\, and at seventeen released her self-titled debut album. \nWhile earning a degree in Evolutionary Biology at Princeton\, Haas joined the groundbreaking band Crooked Still\, launching a career that has since taken her to stages from Late Night with David Letterman and Saturday Night Live with Steve Martin’s bluegrass band to recordings with Béla Fleck\, Vince Gill\, Abigail Washburn\, Tony Trischka\, Yonder Mountain String Band\, and many more. She is the newest member of the Grammy-winning Punch Brothers\, has toured with Dave Rawlings Machine\, and in 2023 released the long-awaited duo album HAAS with her cellist sister Natalie. Named Americana Music Association Instrumentalist of the Year in 2020\, Brittany continues to inspire the next generation through her electrifying performances and teaching. \nOne of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch\,” Nic Gareiss is a singular voice in percussive dance\, blending traditions from Ireland\, Canada\, and Appalachia into a thrilling\, deeply musical style. Growing up surrounded by fiddlers\, banjo players\, and balladeers at Midwest folk festivals\, Nic developed an approach rooted in clog\, flatfoot\, and step dance — rich in improvisation and intimate musical collaboration. \nGareiss has performed in seventeen countries with artists including Yasmin Williams\, Bruce Molsky\, The Chieftains\, Colin Dunne\, Darol Anger\, The Gloaming\, Jake Blount\, Liz Carroll\, Phil Wiggins\, and Sandy Silva\, with appearances at the Barbican Centre\, Irish National Concert Hall\, Munich Philharmonic\, Brooklyn Academy of Music\, and Cork Opera House. DESCRIPTION:February 26th – Jerron Paxton and Dennis Lichtman  \nJerron Paxton and Dennis Lichtman– multi-instrumentalists and vocalists whose formal musical partnership began with a video shoot\, Just Cross the River From Queens\, at the Louis Armstrong House Museum in 2017. Paxton and Lichtman recently released their first full-length duo recording. The duo were Artists-In-Residence at NYC’s Symphony Space for the 2024-25 season and have toured the US and internationally together since 2019. \nSmithsonian Folkways recording artist Paxton presents Black folk music from nearly all the idioms that entails: stride piano jazz from New Orleans to New York; deep blues on guitar and harmonica; rural music from the beginnings of Black arrival in America played on fiddle and\nbanjo; ragtime; and other turn-of-the-century-music that gives the full breadth of pre-WWII Black music without lecturing\, but rather inviting you to enjoy that music as it was given to him. Paxton transports his audiences not to a time\, but to a state of mind that allows them to enjoy and internalize Black folk music\, as has been the American experience for centuries. \nLichtman is a world-traveling bandleader who is best known for running the famed trad-jazz jam sessions at Mona’s Bar in New York City since 2007\, which was described in the Wall Street Journal as “ground zero for an emerging late-night scene of young traditional jazz and swing players.” He is a masterful multi-instrumentalist (clarinet\, mandolin\, violin\, and more) who has toured and recorded with David Byrne\, The Lovestruck Balladeers\, Pokey LaFarge\, Ghost Train Orchestra\, Jim Kweskin\, and his own projects: The Brain Cloud\, Mona’s Hot Four\,\nand his newest all-original album Secret Workshop. \nPaxton and Lichtman’s mutual love of the history\, stories\, and significance behind the music they play is apparent as they romp through an energetic and engaging set of acoustic blues\, ragtime\, Tin Pan Alley pop songs\, 1920s jazz\, twin fiddle hoe-downs\, and original songs and compositions. \nGeneral Admission :25.00\nJoin us in the bar area before the show at 7pm\nConcert Hall doors open at 7:30pm\nMusic at 8pm

Rooted firmly in the old tunes\, their performances are marked by energy\, humor\, and a genuine love of both the music and the people who come to hear it. \nIn 2018 the band released Everyone In\, earning the title of “Best Irish American Band of the Year.” In 2024 they followed with a double-disc recording celebrating two decades of making music together — a heartfelt reflection of the friendships and shared history that define their sound. \nThe group features Ohio brothers John and Daniel McKewen\, father and son Phil and Josh Franck\, and lifelong friend Bryan Brookes. DESCRIPTION:November 14th – Caitlin Canty – Caitlin Canty’s songs harness the grit and spark at the heart of American music\, tempered with a voice both haunting and distinct. \nSince the release of her critically-acclaimed Reckless Skyline in 2015\, Canty has put thousands of miles on her songs\, touring throughout the U.S. and Europe. She is a constant collaborator\, both as a co-writer with Peter Bradley Adams and Jamey Johnson among others\, and appears on albums by Joy Williams\, Jeffrey Foucault and Darlingside. \nCaitlin Canty’s new record\,Night Owl Envies the Mourning Dove is her fifth studio release and marks a return to her roots\, a grittier and more electric Americana sound with echoes of her critically-acclaimed 2015 album\, Reckless Skyline. Recorded live in the studio while nearly 8 months pregnant with her second child\,the songs can be seen in the light of major shifts in Canty’s life\, from pre-parenthood city life in Nashville to her present day filled to the brim with family and nature\, living on top of a mountain in southern Vermont. Night Owl Envies the Mourning Dove finds Canty in the producer chair for the first time. Co-produced alongside Sam Kassirer(Josh Ritter)\, the album was recorded live at Great North Sound Society in rural Maine over 4 days with Rich Hinman(guitars)\, Jeremy Moses Curtis(bass)\, Ray Rizzo(drums) and Kassirer (keys). Matt Lorenz(The Suitcase Junket) joins on backing vocals. All songs on the record are entirely from Canty’s own pen\, with the exception of “Heartache Don’t Live Here” written with Jamey Johnson\, which serves as both the coda and encore of the album. \nShe has performed at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass\, Fresh Grass\, and Green Mountain Bluegrass and Roots Festival. She won the Telluride Troubadour songwriting competition at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in 2015. Her song\,“Get Up\,” was nominated for Song of theYear in the Folk Alliance International Music Awards and was featured on NPR Music’s\, “Songs We Love.”Excited to have her back at the G.A.R. Their music seamlessly blends composed and improvised elements\, creating an immersive live experience that moves effortlessly through mood\, texture\, and rhythm. \nAbout Kevin Robert Martinez\nA native of Northampton\, Ohio\, Kevin grew up surrounded by music—his father\, Chuck Martinez\, was a well-known blues and rock guitarist in the Northeast Ohio music scene. After discovering his passion for jazz and orchestral music at Woodridge High School\, Kevin went on to earn a B.A. in Music Performance from Columbia College Chicago and aMaster’s in Music Composition from DePaul University. \nWhile in Chicago\, he immersed himself in the city’s vibrant jazz culture and toured nationally with the Chicago Afrobeat Project. Since returning home to Northeast Ohio\, Kevin has collaborated with acclaimed artists including Chris Coles\, The Speedbumps\, Roger Hoover\, and Honeybucket\, and has become a fixture in the regional jazz community. SUMMARY:Mama's Broke
DESCRIPTION:November 5th – Mama’s Broke is a powerful duo that deliver a compelling performance with heart and raw energy.  Although highly influenced by their Canadian roots\, Lisa and Amy are based out of nowhere and everywhere. \nTheir two strong voices blend to create haunting harmonies\, while they artfully juggle fiddle\, banjo\, guitar and mandolin\, and incorporate traditional dance and foot percussion into their performance.  Their original -and often dark- compositions push the boundaries of tradition and the constraints of genre.  Drawing from old-time\, Quebecois\, blues\, punk\, celtic\, balkan and doom metal\, they create a soundscape that is both familiar and new. \nFor a group defined by constant touring\, it’s not surprising that the two artists that make up Mama’s Broke\, Lisa Maria and Amy Lou Keeler\, met on the road. As Lisa remembers it\, “Amy was driving her old Mercedes from Montreal to Nova Scotia and I was looking for a ride. We spent the 17 hours in the car talking almost exclusively about music. By the time we reached Halifax we started playing together\, and within a week or two became a band.” Both coming out of traveling communities that are focused on music and protest\, the two owe the way in which they move through the world to the integrated and self-sustaining nature of DIY culture and activism. It was a busy life that took them on a roundabout annual touring schedule running between Canada\, the United States\, Ireland\, the UK\, and Europe.
