DESCRIPTION:April 5th – Them Coulee Boys: Soren Staff and Beau Janke—co-founders of folk/rock/Americana outfit Them Coulee Boys—met as camp counselors in northern Wisconsin in 2011. Their weekend workshopping of Avett Brothers and classic country tunes led to original songs and adding Soren’s brother Jens on mandolin. As the years grew\, the band turned into a more rollicking outfit\, adding Neil Krause on electric bass and Stas Hable on drums. \nThe band’s name is a nod to the glacial melt-carved river valleys they call home\, known by early French fur trappers as coulees. Known for wild swings of emotion during sets\, it is not unusual to see fans in tears and minutes later dancing with abandon. The honesty and ability to talk and sing about the feelings and emotions that shape them has endeared them to a growing group of fans and friends. \nWith four full-length albums and an EP behind them\, including 2019’s Die Happy (produced by Trampled By Turtles’ Dave Simonett on Lo-Hi Records) and 2021’s Namesake\, the band has garnered international attention and earned press in American Songwriter\, Ditty TV\, Folk Alley\, and The Bluegrass Situation. \n2025 marks the release of a new album\, No Fun In The Chrysalis\, an expansive new collection that finds the band picking up where their 2021 release\, Namesake\, left off. DESCRIPTION:April 2nd – Jacob Jolliff was born into a musical family in Newberg\, OR. His dad started him on the mandolin at age seven and required him to practice ten minutes a day. But after six months of practicing this minimal amount\, something clicked\, and almost overnight he started putting in several hours of intense practice daily.. and this hasn’t really changed in the\nlast 20 years. \nJacob Jolliff is one of the world’s premier contemporary mandolinists. In 2011\,he graduated from Berklee College of Music\, having studied there on a full scholarship. The following year\, in 2012\, he won the USA’s National Mandolin Championship in Winfield\, KS. A fixture of the bluegrass scene\, he has performed and collaborated with Béla Fleck\, Tony Trischka\, Michael Daves\, Grant Gordy\, Wes Corbett\, and Alex Hargreaves\, to name a few. Additionally\,throughout his 20s\, he toured as a member of the groups Joy Kills Sorrow and Yonder Mountain String Band. Currently\, his focus is on his own ensemble\, The Jacob Jolliff Band. \nTogether the band has released three albums\, the most recent of which\,“Instrumentals\, Vol. 2: Mandolin Mysteries\,” dropped in May 2024. The band plays a combination of complex original instrumental music and vocal repertoire that spans from trad bluegrass to unlikely pop covers. DESCRIPTION:March 29th – Cold Chocolate is a genre-bending Americana band that fuses folk\, funk and bluegrass to create a unique sound all their own. Led by Ethan Robbins (vocals/guitar/mandolin) and Ariel Bernstein (vocals/percussion/banjo)\, the Boston-based duo released their fifth full-length album in the fall of 2023. “We’re growing as a band\, and I think that shows in our songwriting\,” says Robbins. “I see this album as a leaping off point for many more new albums to come\, and that’s an exciting prospect\,” adds Bernstein. \nPunctuated by tight harmonies and skillful musicianship\, Cold Chocolate has quickly gained recognition for their original music and high-energy shows. DESCRIPTION:March 14th- Heather Maloney’s “Soil in the Sky” is a collective memory. Maloney’s fourth full-length release is a collage of tremulous folk\, existential ballads\, and assertive rock. T \nThe Massachusetts-based “writer song-singer” found music in the midst of three years at a meditation center\, honing a sound moored in days of silent reflection and reverence for storytellers like Joni\, Rilke and Ken Burns. On “Soil in the Sky\,” she takes us to the midwest’s existential crisis\, a barstool scooching against fate\, a make-my-day reckoning with society’s old guard. \nIn sound and sentiment\, these 12 songs cover an immense amount of territory. But they’re all powered by the same source. There’s a spiritual thread throughout the record. That inspiration doesn’t necessarily come from above — Maloney has a patchwork metaphysical support system — but from all around: the glow of humanity gathered in the people and places that lap out in our wake. DESCRIPTION:February 16th – Donna The Buffalo is not just a band\, rather one might say that Donna The Buffalo has become a lifestyle for its members and audiences. Since 1989\, the roots rockers have played thousands of shows and countless festivals including Bonnaroo\, Newport Folk Festival\, Telluride\, Austin City Limits Festival\, Merle Fest\, and Philadelphia Folk Festival. \nThey’ve opened for The Dead and have toured with Peter Rowan\, Del McCoury\, Los Lobos\, Little Feat\, Jim Lauderdale\, Rusted Root\, and Railroad Earth to name a few. They also toured with Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen to help raise awareness about increased corporate spending in politics. \nIn 1991\, the band started the Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival in Trumansburg\, NY. The four day festival has become an annual destination for over 15\,000 music lovers every year and was started as an AIDS benefit. It continues as a benefit for arts and education. To date\, the event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and is now one of three Grassroots Festivals; the Bi-annual Shakori Hills fest in North Carolina and Virginia Key festival in Florida. In 2016 GrassRoots Culture Camp was introduced in Trumansburg\, New York as four days of music\, art\, dance and movement workshops\, including nightly dinners and dances. Obviously a band that has used its voice to bring awareness and change. \nOne of the most dynamic bands to grace the G.A.R. Hall stage. Dust off those dancing shoes and get on down to the Hall. In addition to the Bass Player awards\, she’s received multiple awards from the IBMA for Recorded Event of the Year and Song of the Year. In 2019\, Missy was featured in The Country Music Hall of Fame as part of their American Currents exhibit. In January of 2020\, Missy debuted on the Grand Ole Opry with her band\, Allegheny. \nOn her new release HIGHLANDER\, Raines gives a tip of the hat to the region of West Virginia where she grew up and developed her deep passion for bluegrass music. DESCRIPTION:December 8th – Nic Gareiss and Allison de Groot sound and move together\, engaging tunes and gestures from Appalachia\, Ireland\, and beyond through banjo\, voice\, and percussive dance. Named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch\,” Nic Gareiss has been hailed by the New York Times for his “dexterous melding of Irish and Appalachian dance” and called “the most inventive and expressive step dancer on the scene” by the Boston Herald. A resident of Lansing\, Michigan\, Gareiss received the 2021 Michigan Heritage Award\, the state’s highest honor bestowed on traditional artists. Allison de Groot has performed at the Newport Folk Festival\, Celtic Connections\, Rockygrass\, Hardly Strictly\, Winnipeg Folk Festival\, and Tønder Festival. Shaped by the music scene in her hometown of Winnipeg\, Canada\, Allison also holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Berklee College of Music in Boston where she attended on the Slaight Family Scholarship\, and has been awarded the Joseph S. Stauffer Prize from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Eisenson Family Prize for Excellence in American Roots Music. Her album with Tatiana Hargreaves won Best Bluegrass Album from the Independent Music Awards and was nominated for Liner Notes of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Association awards. \nAfter a decade of once-off collaborations\, Gareiss and de Groot released The Thrill\, a visual album inspired by the music of Appalachian musician Hobart Smith\, in October 2022. The duo spent concentrated time immersing themselves in archival recordings of Hobart Smith (1897-1965) to create The Thrill. “We listened in hopes of having a conversation with his music\,” Gareiss says\, “not attempting to replicate – which would be impossible! – but hoping for a discourse\, an argument\, a dialogue with his music.” The title itself comes from a quote from Hobart\, “music fills you with a thrill you just can’t express.” The Thrill can be purchased\, viewed\, and streamed on the platform Bandcamp. Fifty percent of the proceeds benefit Lonesome Pine Mutual Aid\, a Black\, Indigenous\, queer- and women-led organization which distributes flood relief including food\, drinking water\, and other community care across southwest Virginia where Hobart Smith lived and learned his music. \nGeneral Admission – 22.00\nBar area opens at 7pm\nDoors to Concert Hall opens at 7:30\nMusic at 8pm
