This property was the original Freight Building for the B&O railroad. Peninsula folklore remembers it as a home for the ‘hobos” seeking shelter while waiting to catch a ride on the rails. For a short time it was used as a storage area for Bigelow Motors.
This building was part of Robert Hunker’s vision for revitalizing the Mill Street area from industrial use properties to retail. Elements gallery occupied this space before the latest renovation to the Purple Brown Farm Store. Purple Brown Farm store serves as a gatheing place, while nourishing a community with locally sourced food.
